Did you know that some of the original innovators of therapy had their dogs in their therapy sessions?
Sigmund Freud (original creator of psychotherapy/psychoanalysis) and Milton Erickson (innovator in clinical hypnosis and solution focused therapy) found that having their pet dogs in therapy sessions helped clients with relieving their anxiety and depression symptoms in the session. We now know this is backed by scientific research: petting a dog/pet has been shown to reduce blood pressure and cortisol levels!
